Grace for the Worst

“This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.”

1 Timothy 1:15 (KJV)

The man who wrote half the New Testament called himself the worst sinner alive. Paul hunted Christians. He held the coats while Stephen was stoned. He breathed threats and murder against the church. Then Jesus stopped him dead on the Damascus road, and the chief of sinners became the chief of missionaries.

That is what grace does. It does not wait for you to get presentable. It does not ask for your resume or your clean streak. Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, and Paul put himself at the front of that line so you would know there is room for you in it too.

Day three of thirty on grace: nobody is too far gone. Not the addict. Not the runaway. Not you on your worst day. If grace could reach a murderer on a mission and turn him into an apostle, it can reach you right where you are this morning.

Stop ranking your sin against everyone else's. The ground is level at the foot of the cross, and grace is not rationed. There is enough for the worst of us, which means there is more than enough for you.

Prayer: Father, thank You that Jesus came to save sinners, and that no one is beyond His reach. Wash away the lie that I am too far gone. Let Your grace meet me today the way it met Paul on that road. In Jesus' name, amen.
